MAJOR  SIX CAUSES OF CANCER AND SOLUTIONS



Cancer is a group of diseases where abnormal cells grow uncontrollably and begin to spread throughout the body. It affects millions of people worldwide and, if not treated in time, can lead to death. There are different types of cancer, each affecting various parts of the body. For example, carcinomas affect organs like the skin, breast, and lungs; sarcomas develop in bones, muscles, fat, or blood vessels; leukemia targets the blood cells; and lymphomas affect the immune system cells. Common symptoms of cancer include unusual lumps or swellings, unexplained weight loss, persistent pain, and changes in skin color. While cancer is serious, early detection and treatment can improve outcomes. Below are some possible causes of lung diseases, which can be linked to certain types of cancer...

1. Tobacco Use
  • Tobacco is the leading  cause of cancer worldwide, responsible for approximately 22% of all cancer-related deaths, it contains carcinogens which damages DNA with in cells  which results into uncontrolled cell growth and development and hence leading to cancer ,we have different types of tobacco which  include  
  • Smoking Cigarettes: Tobacco smoke contains over 70 known carcinogens, including benzene,  These chemicals damage the DNA in lung and throat cells, increasing the risk of lung, throat, and mouth cancers. And also since it has damaged the DNA it can make cells grow differently which can turn into cancer 


  • Secondhand Smoke: Even non-smokers exposed to cigarette smoke can be at risk of taking  harmful chemicals, putting them at risk of developing cancer.
  • Chewing Tobacco: can cause cancers of the mouth ,cheek, tongue and gums
  2. Poor diet 
  • Poor diet can increase the risk of cancer were by  poor diet leads to higher levels  of methylglyoxal, were by Consuming processed meats, sugary drinks,  increases the likelihood of developing colorectal, stomach, pancreatic cancer., high blood glucose , inflammation , and  obesity  ( being over weight ) which is a risk factor were by it causes inflammation, and growth of harmonies for cancer since it causes endometrial cancer , esophageal cancer ,gastric cordial  cancer, kidney cancer , uterine cancer also  diet  which is low in fruits and vegetables leads to low antioxidants in the body  which are essential in fighting free radicals that can damage DNA and lead to cancer.
Solution 
  • Adopting a balanced diet rich in whole foods, lean proteins, and fiber while limiting processed and sugary foods can significantly reduce cancer risk.

3. Physical Inactivity
  • Physical inactivity is the failure to use your body to engage in different physical activity , physical inactivity can contribute to cancer by contributing to weight gain , chronic inflammation which is know risk for cancer ,like bladder cancer , breast cancer which usually affects women , colon cancer, kidney cancer. So  Exercise helps regulate hormones like estrogen, which play a role in these cancers. were by Engaging in at least 150 minutes of moderate activity per week such as walking, swimming, muscle strengthening activities or cycling this can help lower the risk of cancer.



How to do physical activity 
engage in moderate exercise such as walking , build muscles and bone density , and lastly make it habit  into your daily life 

4. Excessive Alcohol Consumption
  • Alcohol is classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the World Health Organization (WHO), meaning it is a proven cause of cancer.. were by it affects hormone levels ,which cause cells to divide and thus causing cancer , alcohol causes the cancers like oral cancer , pharynx cancer , liver cancer  were it damages the liver which increases the risk of cancer  more on that alcohol leads to Mouth, Throat, and Esophageal Cancer: were by it  irritates and weakens the cells lining these areas, making them more vulnerable to mutations.

  • Breast Cancer: Alcohol raises estrogen levels, which can contribute to the development of hormone-sensitive tumors.
5. Genetic Factors and Family History
  • Some cancers have a genetic component, meaning they can be passed down through families. such cancers may include BRCA1 and BRCA2 Mutations: These genetic mutations increase the risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Lynch Syndrome which is a passed from children to parents While genetics cannot be changed, individuals with a family history of cancer can take proactive steps, such as lifestyle modifications and regular medical screenings, to reduce their risk.
6. Pesticides and chemicals 
  • Pesticides and Chemicals: this is due to  Long-term exposure especially in agricultural settings which has been associated with cancers such as non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. and this can be reduced by Reducing exposure to hazardous substances and using protective equipment in high-risk environments this can help minimize cancer risk.

Solution 
Follow instructions and warnings , wear protective gear eg masks , use ventilated areas , , avoid mixing chemicals , dispose off the waste correctly , avoid skin contact
