Sleeping in the wrong positions may affect your health so they are four major un healthy sleep positions 

1. Sleeping on Your Stomach (Prone Position)

  • :Sleeping on your stomach means you sleep on your belly  with your face  down ,it also  means lying on your front side,  when you sleep  you  may    put your arms under your pillows wrap them around your body it puts  strain on your neck and spine. Since your head is usually turned to one side for breathing, it can make your neck to become tight and painfully which makes it hard to move your neck , it has symptoms like pain , limited mobility , headaches  . however people sleep on their stomach because , they feel comfortable , it reduces snoring and some people find say that sleeping on their stomach helps to ease back pain 
  • Negative Effects:
    • Causes neck and lower back pain  since they cause neck and back twist 
    • Increases pressure on internal organs.
    • poor posture since your spine doesn't  get rest in good position 
    • pressure on joints 
    • Hard to breath 
    • Bad digestion .
  • so to sleep on your stomach you need to 
  • use smalls pillow or no pillow 
  • choose soft mattress 
  • Try sleeping on both sides to see which is more comfortable for you 



2. Fetal Position 

  •  Under this position person resembles like fetus in the womb were it involves sleeping  on  your side with your knees  toward your chest. You bend your knee's and wrap your arms around your body , and the entire body is is curled up this position is is good because people feel comforting , people feel secure , and some take as habit  , however it can hurt your neck , it can make your breath poorly  curling up too tightly can restrict your diaphragm and make breathing less efficient during sleep.
  • Negative Effects:
    • Puts strain on your back and neck, especially if the spine is not aligned properly.
    • Restricts deep breathing, which is important for oxygen circulation during sleep.
    • Can lead to joint pain or stiffness because of pressure 
    • Day time fatigue 
    • so some tips for good fetal position
    • choose comfortable mattress 
    • use supportive pillow

3. Sleeping with Arms Above the Head

  • sleeping with arms above the head is also known as starfish (arms up) means you sleep with your arms starched up over the head , often with your hands under your pillow , the back is relaxed , the shoulders are down and away from the ears and the chest is open , this sleeping improves breathing , reduces snoring , helps to relax the shoulders and it helps in better spinal alignment 
  • Negative Effects:
    • Puts pressure on shoulder joints, potentially causing pain .
    • Increases the risk of nerve compression in the arms, leading to a "pins and needles" sensation.
    • Can lead to  shoulder  injuries.
    • reduced breathing space 




4. Sleeping on One Side Without Proper Support
  • sleeping on one side means you sleep on either left or right side  Sleeping on your side without proper support, such as a pillow between your knees it is usually Dane to maintain proper spinal alignment however  can cause your spine to be misaligned. If one shoulder is pressed too hard into the mattress, it may also lead to shoulder pain.

    • pressure on shoulders .
    • Puts pressure on one side of the face,.
    • nerve compression .
